Drug assisted assault or 'Drug and Date Rape' is a growing concern worldwide. A
recent investigation carried out by the News of the World revealed 1 in 6 drinks
tested contained traces of drugs used in assault. Men account for 12-15% of
reported drug-rape victims and can be victims of any of the drink spiking
crimes.
According to statistics from the 'Roofie Foundation' helpline, over 6,000 women
and men have reported being the victim of a drug rape attack since the
foundation was started up in 1997.
In the past year more than 1,000 women in Britain have reported being raped
while drugged, yet difficulties of proving the crime have meant that very few of
these crimes have been prosecuted.
The 'Drink Detective' will look for traces of the three most commonly used date
rape drugs: Benzodiazepines (including Rohypnol Valium and Librium), GHB
(gamma-hydroxyl -butyrate), and Ketamine. This is the first kit that will
detect the presence of all three drug types in a wide range of drinks; it will
detect them at much smaller concentrations, the test is easy to perform, using just 5 drops of a drink for all three
tests and the results take less than 30 seconds.

you will be able to combat the effects of the drug and make sure that you are in
safe hands.
The drugs used to commit this crime are fast acting, readily available sedatives
and euphoriants that produce amnesia often causing the victim to co-operate with
the criminal whatever he or she demands. These drugs can also be used to gather
financial information such as PIN numbers, which opens the victim to robbery,
blackmail and fraud.
The amnesia effect means that the victim is unable to recall details of the
attack and is left with only the faintest memory of what happened. Sometimes
traces of memory may come back as flashbacks or nightmares.
